During the summer school I have been learning about the DAW, Ableton and the musician technology elements that come with it: mixing, mastering and sound design. I enjoyed the freedom the technology at this summer school gave me and it was quite liberating to be so creative. The only thing I would say that challenged me was the amount of time I had to complete the tasks I was given. However the summer school has enabled me to look at music from a different lens, I tend to be very methodical in terms of composition and here I felt I was really pushed to be free, and I believe the results have paid dividends. I am definitely going to take this approach in my music not only in the summer school but outside as it’s a transferable skill.
