The SaM Summer School has been great so far! I’ve found the taster sessions most enjoyable, as we got to explore composing for different genres of music. I’ve also learnt a great deal from the workshop sessions too, as we’ve been able to associate with other musicians who play the same instruments.

The musicians are all amazing, especially in the Jazz Group. The taster sessions could be longer, though as everything  is very pushed for time that might be difficult to arrange! I suppose I was most inspired by hearing other styles in the taster groups and hearing the free-form improvisation of the jazz musicians. Right now I’m currently writing a sort of avant-garde ballad for a jazz sextet – it’s all very exciting here!
